Raoul Dufy, born in 1877, was a prominent French painter in the early twentieth century. Painting in a Fauvist style which he gradually adapted and made his own, Dufy utilized vibrant colour and energetic brushwork to depict vivid still life scenes and landscapes of the French Riviera where he lived.
